Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups finely shredded smoked cheddar or smoked Gouda
  • 2 tbsp soft butter
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups mixed nuts (pecans, walnuts and hazelnuts), toasted and coarsely chopped
  • crackers, apple slices and celery, to serve

Steps

  1. Beat the cream cheese, smoked cheese, butter, Worcestershire, paprika and garlic powder until well combined. Stir in the green onions.
  2. Scrape onto a sheet of plastic wrap, gather it into a ball, and refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours.
  3. Spread the chopped nuts on a plate. Unwrap the ball and roll it in the nuts, pressing so they stick all over.
  4. Let it sit at room temperature 20 minutes before serving with crackers, apples and celery.

TipRoll it in the nuts the day you serve it so they stay crunchy; the cheese ball itself keeps 3 days.
