Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream, cold
  • 3/4 cup hot strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 oz (3 tbsp) Irish whiskey

Steps

  1. Fill a heatproof stemmed glass with hot water to warm it, then pour the water out.
  2. Whisk the cream by hand until just thickened but still pourable. It should not hold stiff peaks.
  3. Stir the brown sugar into the hot coffee in the glass until dissolved, then add the whiskey.
  4. Slowly pour the cream over the back of a spoon so it floats in a thick layer on top. Do not stir; drink the coffee through the cream.

TipIf the cream sinks, it is either too thin or the coffee is not sweet enough. Whisk it a few seconds longer.
