Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, soft
  • 6 oz lump or imitation crab, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, finely sliced
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • about 30 square wonton wrappers
  • neutral oil for frying (or cooking spray for air-frying)
  • sweet chili sauce, to serve

Steps

  1. Mix the cream cheese, crab, green onions, soy sauce, Worcestershire, sugar and garlic powder until smooth.
  2. Set a wrapper on the counter and put 1 heaping tsp of filling in the center. Wet the edges with water.
  3. Bring the four corners up to meet over the filling and pinch all the seams together firmly to make a sealed four-pointed star. Keep finished ones covered.
  4. To fry, heat 2 inches of oil to 350°F and fry in batches until golden, 2 to 3 minutes, turning once. Drain on paper towels. To air-fry, spray well and cook at 375°F 6 to 8 minutes.
  5. Cool 2 minutes and serve with sweet chili sauce.

TipSeal every seam tightly and press out the air; any gap lets the hot filling leak and spatter in the oil.
