Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 tbsp softened butter
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard mixed with 1 tsp honey
  • 6 oz thinly sliced roast turkey
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar
  • 1/2 crisp apple (such as Honeycrisp), cored and thinly sliced
  • a small handful of baby spinach or arugula

Steps

  1. Heat a panini press or a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice. Spread honey mustard on the other side of two slices.
  3. On the mustard side, layer cheddar, turkey, apple, greens and more cheddar. Top with the remaining bread, butter side out.
  4. Cook until the bread is golden and the cheese melts, 3 to 4 minutes in a press, or 3 to 4 minutes per side in a skillet pressed with a heavy pan.
  5. Slice and serve hot.

TipSlice the apple right before assembling so it doesn't brown.
